SALARY: £29,970 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Based at HMP Humber in Everthorpe, East Riding of Yorkshire  

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week

 

KEY REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be 18+ due to prison-based working AND MUST hold a valid UK driving licence with access to their own vehicle as travel between sites or locations may be necessary

 

The post will be subject to a DBS Enhanced with Adults barred check and Home Office Prison Clearance.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner with PWP accreditation, either with BPS or BSBCP and experience in a similar mental health support role.

Working as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner you will work as part of an integrated primary care mental health team within HMP Humber to provide high volume, low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions, for clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

As the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner your work will include providing guided self-help in both 1:1 and group formats, in line with the current Step 2 IAPT guidelines.

DUTIES

Some of your duties as the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will include:

  • Work within the Prison Service policies and procedures and to support the relevant programmes being run and contribute to the management of risk and public protection
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager
  • Take personal responsibility for individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives undertaking any relevant training
  • Respond to and implement suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice
  • Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed, and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development
  • Maintain professional registration requirements as appropriate to the role
  • Ensure the maintenance of internal standards of practice and regulatory bodies and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • PWP accreditation, either with BPS or BSBCP
  • Experience in a similar mental health support role
  • Strong knowledge of CBT and low-intensity intervention techniques
  • Ability to build therapeutic relationships and work inclusively with a diverse range of individuals
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and clinical database systems
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work-related travel
