IT Support Assistant / Roll-Out Implementation Engineer who has a basic IT / Technical background with the ability to install and upgrade software / hardware, connect laptops to internet routers / hubs and switches via WiFi and Ethernet cables and has basic hardware / software troubleshooting skills is required for a well-established managed IT Services Company.

This role is much more than a technical role. You will also need excellent customer service skills. This position will require visiting customer sites and you will need your own vehicle and be prepared to work away from home when required.

SALARY: £24,000 pro rata + £1,000 Project Completion Bonus + Competitive Mileage Allowance. Accommodation and Subsistence Paid whilst living away from home.

LOCATION: Birmingham, West Midlands / UK Wide

Whilst you will be based in Birmingham and supporting customers in the local and surrounding areas, you will also need the flexibility to work away from home 5 nights out of 7 when required to support customers UK wide.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an IT Support Assistant / Roll-Out Implementation Engineer who has a basic IT / Technical background with the ability to install and upgrade software / hardware, connect laptops to internet routers / hubs and switches via WiFi and Ethernet cables and has basic hardware / software troubleshooting skills.

Working as the IT Support Assistant / Roll-Out Implementation Engineer you will support the company with their 3 month software and hardware implementation / moves and changes project. This will involve visiting customers throughout the UK. Where possible you will support customers in your local area. However, you must be prepared to work away from home 5 nights out of 7 when visiting some customer sites.

As the IT Support Assistant / Roll-Out Implementation Engineer you will visit around 3 sites per day, which will be arranged by the company. Once on site you will remove old laptops and other equipment and replace with new. This will involve setting up the new laptops and other IT equipment, ensuring all the installed software works correctly and the system is networked correctly to the internet via WiFI or Ethernet cables.

Although you don’t need to have in-depth IT experience you should be confident installing software and hardware, as well as troubleshooting basic technical issues and have basic networking experience such as setting up connections to internet routers, hubs and switches.

This role is very customer focussed and you will interact closely with the customer whilst on site. This will involve showing them the new equipment and walking them through the new software installed, demonstrating any new functionality the system has. (The company will provide you with training required to carry out these duties)

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Must have a basic IT background with the ability to install software / hardware, set up routers, hubs, switches and WiFi and Wired Internet connections
  • Good IT troubleshooting skills
  • Must have your own vehicle
  • Must have the flexibility to work away from home, 5 nights out of 7 when required
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • The ability to explain technical things to non-technical people
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Must be available to complete the project with a proposed end date Mid October 2022
