Accounts Payable Manager with extensive experience in a similar role, proven people management skills, intermediate/advanced Excel skills and experience of designing and developing processes is required by Guide Dogs based in Reading, Berkshire.

 

SALARY: £28,988 - £41,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Accounts Payable Manager with extensive experience in a similar role, proven people management skills, intermediate/advanced Excel skills and experience of designing and developing processes.

As the Accounts Payable Manager you will be responsible for and experienced in designing new processes and developing processes and process management systems used by Guide Dogs.

The Accounts Payable Manager will also have overall responsibility for the team that ensures procedures are complied with and that suppliers, employees and volunteers are paid in accordance with their respective terms and conditions.

 

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Accounts Payable Manager will include:

  • Manage and coach the Accounts Payable Team to enhance their performance, learning and skills, carrying out quarterly performance development reviews
  • Assist the Financial Controller to maintain up to date work practices and procedures, documentation and ensuring that the Accounts Payable Team operate in accordance with relevant guidelines
  • Ensure all invoices, expenses and petty cash are authorised and processed in a timely and accurate basis and that exceptions are investigated and resolved
  • Manage weekly payment runs, payroll, foreign currency, and ad hoc payments, ensuring payments are accurate and that cashflow is optimised
  • Manage the reconciliation of the relevant balance sheet control accounts, including purchase ledger control account, suspense account, and corporate credit card accounts, ensuring all reconciling items are investigated and resolved
  • Support projects impacting the Procure to Pay process to ensure implications are addressed
  • Prepare weekly management statistical reporting, developing new reports where necessary to assist with the scheduling and prioritisation of team workloads
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring that issues are resolved effectively and processes improved to avoid re-occurrences
  • Responsible for reporting non-compliance matters to Financial Controller for action

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Experience of designing and developing processes and process management
  • An in depth understanding of the principal functions of an Accounts Payable department
  • Positive, proactive and process focused
  • Able to respond quickly to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a clear view of overall priorities Accountancy part-qualified, for example ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working with IT systems and implementing system improvements and change
  • Extensive experience in accounts payable supervision/management
  • Proven people management track record
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

 

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering training and understanding training outcomes
  • Coaching and developing staff
  • Experience of delivering training and understanding training outcomes
