JOB OVERVIEW

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge to work within a charity that provides support to young people?

If you are and would like to join the organisation as a Support Worker, then we want to hear from you!

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker who is a positive role model and has the ability to communicate and relate positively to young people with a great sense of humour.

Working as a Support Worker you will join the Ipswich or Stowmarket supervised accommodation centres, which is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week for vulnerable young people, aged 16 – 18, who may be leaving the care system and will require a bespoke support package to support them with the transition from a children’s home or foster home towards independent living. Referrals are received from Suffolk County Council.

As a Support Worker at these centres, you will provide a minimum of one-to-one support to help each person learn important life skills and build their confidence. Support is offered for all areas of young people’s lives including school or college work, jobs, training, appointments, health matters or issues in their personal lives. The organisation aims to build confidence in young people, developing skills (e.g., budgeting, cooking) they will need to prepare them for future independent living.

As a successful candidate you will be on a zero hour contract where the hours will vary according to the needs of the service.

The organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. An enhanced DBS check will be required for successful applicants.

The organisation embeds the Nurtured Heart Approach which creates strong and improved relationships by focusing on positive behaviour rather than energising negativity, providing clear rules and consequences, creating an environment in which people thrive.
