Family Support Worker Team Leader / Vision Impairment SEND Supervisor with a good understanding of relevant policies and legislation in relation to Health & Social Care, Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, or demonstrable relevant experience is required by the Children & Young People Services team (CYP) at Guide Dogs.

 

SALARY: £28,988 - £35,199 per annum

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Family Support Worker Team Leader / Vision Impairment SEND Supervisor with a good understanding of relevant policies and legislation in relation to Health & Social Care, Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, or demonstrable relevant experience.

As the Family Support Worker Team Leader / Vision Impairment SEND Supervisor you will supervise the Family Support Officers, enabling the team to empower families to access support and services.

The Family Support Worker Team Leader / Vision Impairment SEND Supervisor will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the team, to include 1:1’s and being the first point of contact for queries and to ensure collaboration across CYP and regional teams.

 

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Family Support Worker Team Leader / Vision Impairment SEND Supervisor will include:

  • Technical supervision; oversee cases and case reviews; Provide support interventions where second conversations are complex
  • Oversee the referral process regularly monitoring performance to ensure expected outputs and outcomes meet business need
  • Ensure that the team adhere to standards and guidance, capturing sufficient information to build an outcome-focussed action plan for each child/family
  • Providing high quality information, advice, and guidance, including at and around initial diagnosis
  • Team expert in current relevant legislation, statutory processes and guidelines concerning SEND (including vision impairment)
  • Using relevant data, analyse performance against KPIs, identifying trends, threats and opportunities
  • Escalate any issues or concerns in relation to service delivery to the relevant manager
  • Work in partnership around process and innovative improvements to the service provided, including attendance at conferences and events
  • With the Volunteering team, develop and support a strong team of volunteer managers to support the Family Support team and manage volunteers

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) or have demonstrable relevant experience
  • Experience of supervising of a team, either in a coaching or developing capacity
  • Experience of providing IAG to families with disabilities
  • Good understanding of relevant policies and legislation in relation to Health & Social Care, Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
  • Experience of creating an inclusive work environment for people with a disability
  • Ability to establish and develop person-centred, professional working relationships with families via face to face, phone, digital platforms and email communication
  • Ability to liaise effectively with other professionals/agencies
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills and data analysis skills
  • Proven organisational, time-management and administration skills
  • Positive, team player, who is a self-starter and uses initiative to complete tasks and can work alone or as part of a team
  • Ability to work empathically and sensitively
  • Competency in ICT, including Office packages and database administration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
