A Support Worker / Learning Disabilities Buddy who is fun, friendly, compassionate, caring and has a genuine desire in supporting and encouraging young people with learning disabilities to lead independent, fulfilling lives is required for a well-established and growing community based charity.
Previous experience would be great, although not essential as the charity will provide fully paid training so that you can make a real difference to people’s lives.
SALARY: £17,500 pro rata / £8.97 Per Hour (plus paid annual leave, sleep-in shifts and overtime subject to availability)
LOCATION: in and around Guildford, Surrey

The charity is a vibrant organisation that provides various opportunities and support services for young people with learning disabilities to access social activities, educational programmes and supported living accommodation.
Working as the Support Worker / Learning Disabilities Buddy you will provide young people with learning disabilities 1:1 support, promoting life skills, independence, social skills, leisure opportunities and assisting young people to access the local and wider community in ways which best suit them.
The charity tries to match the Support Worker / Learning Disabilities Buddy and young people according to their hobbies, interests and other individual needs.
As the Support Worker / Learning Disabilities Buddy you will be DBS checked and receive a full induction, training, and supervision with opportunities to progress. Training modules include first aid, epilepsy awareness, and safeguarding adults among many others.
What type of person makes a great candidate?
- The charity will consider applications from individuals who demonstrate a genuine desire to gain experience working within a care organisation and working with young people with a learning disability.
- Previous experience is not essential, as fully paid training will be provided the charity, although previous experience working with young people with learning disabilities would be an advantage.
- Someone who is encouraging, positive, empathetic, trustworthy and good at problem solving.
