Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant that has a full, clean driving licence and some basic administrative skills is required to support a visually impaired member of staff to fulfil their role.

 

SALARY: Starting from £18,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits

LOCATION: Cardiff, Wales – with a requirement to trave to locations across Wales as well as other locations in England which may require overnight stays – there will be opportunities to work from home as well as the office

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday – flexibility is required due to travel and other aspects of the role

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant that has a full, clean driving licence and some basic administrative skills.

Working as the Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant you will be driving and supporting a visually impaired member of staff on a day-to-day basis, enabling them to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively.

As the Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant you will form a close and trusting working relationship with the supported person, and having a person-centred approach, good communication skills and flexibility and understanding are extremely important.

 

DUTIES

Your duties as the Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant:

  • To drive the person supported in order that they fulfil the requirements of travel in their role
  • Providing sighted assistance, orientation and sighted guiding in unfamiliar environments to the person supported
  • Note take and read documentation to the supported person as required and handle information in a sensitive manner, maintaining confidentiality and applying data protection act where necessary
  • Assist with basic data input on Microsoft Office programmes include MS Word and Excel, maintain Outlook calendar and maintain accurate and confidential records
  • Locate information from a variety of sources, including internet, print and internal systems

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • To hold a full, clean UK driving license and have your own car
  • Computer literate with a good knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent listening and communication skills particularly verbal
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential as the role will require a close working relationship with the person being supported
  • Proven ability to use initiative and able to work effectively under pressure
  • Evidence of dealing with confidential issues sensitively and with total integrity
  • Positive, team player, flexible and thorough in ways of working
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

 

DESIRABLE

  • Understanding, an experience of, providing a service or support with a person-centred approach.
  • Experience of working within a similar role
  • Experience of supporting people with disabilities, in a work or voluntary capacity.
