SALARY: £39,571 - £44,624 per annum + 15% Unsociable Hours Allowance + Benefits

LOCATION: Liverpool, Merseyside, North West England

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week

The team works on a shift basis including nights. The rota is arranged to ensure team members have opportunity to participate in team meetings, training and reflective supervision.

The team provides a 24/7 service which includes weekend and night working. An additional 15% unsociable hours allowance is added to the salary.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Social Worker / Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) with significant post qualification experience in Adult Social Care, excellent communication and organisational skills and extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act.

As the Senior Social Worker / Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) you will hold and promote high practice standards in your role and in the wider team.  Having confidence in supporting the team’s relationships with key partners and of promoting the rights of people who use the services, and their carers, are key attributes of the team.

The team operates on a 24/7 basis to coordinate and undertake Mental Health Act assessments on behalf of the Council.  They also provide a centre of knowledge, expertise and experience to support and mentor colleagues in relation to working with appropriate legal frameworks.

The Senior Social Worker / Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) will enjoy supporting and developing AMHP practice within the city; taking an active role in creating a learning environment and acting as a Practice Assessor for AMHP trainees.

 

Primary Purpose of the Senior Social Worker / Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP):

  • Consider and undertake Mental Health Act assessments on behalf of the Council
  • To model and facilitate reflective AMHP practice, support AMHP trainees and act as Practice Assessor where required
  • Support the management team in the development and leadership of the Social Care work force, specifically the AMHP service, in order to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of vulnerable adults and their families to deliver high quality services and standards
  • Provide leadership and knowledge to colleagues (and other professionals) in situations of high complexity and where the Mental Health Act would be a possible legal framework. To provide constructive challenge to enhance practice, procedures and policies, promote innovation and introduce new ways of working from recognised sites of excellence

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Social Work Degree or equivalent
  • Current registration with Social Work England and Approved Mental Health Professional status
  • Have a qualification as or will undertake training in and practice as a Best Interest Assessor
  • Significant post qualification experience in statutory Adult Social Care Service
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults/older people with complex needs and providing peer support for others with such cases
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Knowledge of the following legislation, statutory guidance and related Codes of Practice Mental Health ACT 1983, Mental Capacity Act (Care Act 2005), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Care Act (2015) (PCF1,4&5) No Secrets (2000), (Safeguarding guidance) Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE)
