JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Vacuum Furnace Engineer / Chemical Vapour Deposition Technician (CVD) with experience constructing, testing and bringing on-line new vacuum furnaces / CVD equipment.

This role represents a chance to enter an innovative company at the beginning of a new growth phase and thus grow with it.

Working as the Senior Vacuum Furnace Engineer / Chemical Vapour Deposition Technician (CVD) you will use your technical experience constructing and maintaining vacuum furnaces or CVD equipment to support the development and deposition of ceramic thin films on graphite wafer substrates.

Currently the company is building a small CVD tool for experimental purposes, with a view to scaling up once the deposition process has been optimised.

As Senior Vacuum Furnace Engineer / Chemical Vapour Deposition Technician (CVD) you will lead the technical aspects of design, build, testing and maintenance of both the experimental and scale up equipment.

The company is looking for someone hands-on, experienced, and capable who can take considerable technical responsibility for the CVD equipment.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The company provide specialist services to the MOCVD industry. They have over forty years’ experience manufacturing bespoke high temperature process furnaces for the Material Sciences sector. Having designed and installed some of the first MOCVD machines in the world, they have exceptional knowledge and experience when it comes to understanding the problems faced by today’s epitaxial engineers. The company currently provides three primary areas of service; Graphite Cleaning, Graphite Purification and Graphite Coating.

 

DUTIES

Your responsibilities as the Senior Vacuum Furnace Engineer / Chemical Vapour Deposition Technician (CVD) will include:

Small, experimental CVD tool

  • System testing, including heating, gas flow and pressure systems
  • Carrying out equipment modifications with support from other technicians
  • General equipment maintenance and cleaning
  • Day-to-day running of the CVD equipment and deposition system
  • Maintaining stocks and spare parts

Large, scale-up CVD tool

  • Supporting the design process
  • Leading the construction and testing phases
  • General equipment maintenance
  • Supporting the training of new technicians as the project scales up
  • Direct responsibility for your technical team

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Experience constructing, testing and bringing on-line new vacuum furnaces / CVD equipment
  • Experience maintaining vacuum furnaces / CVD equipment
  • Ability to identify causes of equipment failure and carry out the repair process
  • Ability to work autonomously and organise own workload
  • Ability to manage others

Desirable

  • Prior experience running vacuum furnaces / CVD equipment
  • Knowledge and experience of chemical vapour deposition processes
