SEMH / SEN School Teacher with QTS Status, who has excellent communication skills, ability to take responsibility for a small group of KS2, KS3 and KS4 pupils, a commitment to inclusive practice and can work within a multi-disciplinary team is required for a 1 Ace Provision, part of Five Rivers Child Care, in Dorset.

 

SALARY: £27,000 - £34,000 per annum (depending on experience)

LOCATION: The role is covering Bournemouth, Weymouth and Blandford Forum

We have an excellent opportunity for a SEMH / SEN School Teacher with QTS Status, who has excellent communication skills, ability to take responsibility for a small group of KS2, KS3 and KS4 pupils, a commitment to inclusive practice and can work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Five Rivers Child Care Education Service is committed to providing warm and consistent environments where pupils develop positive behaviours, whether in an in-house facility or within our outreach service in the community, all our education services provide the same level of individual planning and learning for each child.

Our schools and 1ACE Provision offer a balance of academic studies, physical and outdoor education, vocational studies, and personal development programmes for those who have had limited success in formal education, or who have struggled in specialist settings.

We are looking for innovative and creative SEMH / SEN School Teachers with experience of working with children who are SEMH, to join our friendly teams at our Outreach provisions in Dorset, which covers Bournemouth, Weymouth and Blandford Forum.

Our children are taught in small groups or on a one to one basis, using bite size learning based on personal interests and community issues, to help engage the children and help extend their concentration. Our teachers are specialist trained to work in developing the child. Our holistic approach boosts confidence, self-esteem and helps our young people to develop skills to be a successful learner. A therapeutic informed approach is used to recognise and reduce barriers to learning and create a personalised curriculum.

Working as the SEMH / SEN School Teacher you will work alongside the Lead teacher and will demonstrate a clear understanding of the challenges of delivering consistent, quality learning opportunities to students with higher and complex needs.

The SEMH / SEN School Teacher will have QTS as well as considerable experience in the following:

  • Working with children with Social, Emotional, Behavioural, and additional needs
  • Researching, planning, preparing, and delivering outstanding lessons
  • Developing and delivering flexible and purposeful, individualised curriculum
  • Line management of Learning Support staff
  • Robust baseline, assessing and tracking of both traditional and non-traditional curriculum and learning programmes
  • Working with internal colleagues, critical friends, parents, and clinicians as well as the network of external colleagues in Local Authority SEN teams
  • High levels of self-reflection, motivation to improve own practice and a solution-focused, positive approach to operational challenges
