Retail Store Manager with excellent communication and organisation skills and previous experience in a similar role is required for this joint venture charity shop based in Ferring, Worthing.

 

SALARY: £18,400 per annum + potential bonus of £1,200 (if targets and profitability achieved)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity within a charity shop for a Retail Store Manager with excellent communication and organisation skills and previous experience in a similar role.

The Retail Store Manager will manage all retail activities for the joint venture shop, generating the maximum return through retail activities, whilst enhancing both brands.

It is expected that the Retail Store Manager, along with all staff, will be sympathetic to the Christian aims and ethos of the Charity.  The successful candidate will be expected to extend those views and values to all they come into contact with.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Retail Store Manager will include:

  • Manage and co-ordinate the retail activities of the shop and maximise income from the resources provided
  • Maximise profits and increase profitability by meeting or exceeding weekly turnover targets
  • Ensure the smooth day to day operation of the shop for the agreed opening hours, by completing and administering the volunteer rota and arranging cover for holidays and other absences
  • Select and price quality stock ensuring the professional presentation of the shop at all times with particular attention to display, cleanliness and customer care
  • Ensure the security of the premises, stock and cash
  • Comply with all statutory legislation, particularly that of Health and Safety and Trading Standards
  • Recruitment, supervision and training of volunteer helpers
  • Management of a part time deputy manager
  • Ensure till procedures are followed, control the banking of cash making weekly returns to the office as directed
  • Ensure the regular rotation of stock and organise the sorting and boxing of all donated clothing
  • Liaise with the appropriate person as directed to ensure the collection of packed boxes, rags and rubbish
  • Liaise with the local traders and competition as appropriate
  • Undertake any other duty within your ability and within reason that may be required from time to time
  • Create a friendly, welcoming and appreciative atmosphere for both customers and volunteers
  • Promote both Charities, their work and both brands at all times
  • Be flexible enough to cover other shops within the Charity’s portfolio during sickness or holiday absence of other managers

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous retail management experience
  • Charity shop experience would be desirable
  • Proactive attitude with excellent merchandising skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Must be comfortable using IT and new technologies
