Here at Five Rivers Child Care we are looking for Level 3 Residential Childcare Support Workers to come and join our family at home in Taunton, Somerset, a 3 bedded home for children aged 7 to 12 years. The home is located just outside Taunton, Somerset and is set in the countryside with idyllic views and large garden grounds.
The role of a Residential Child Care Support Worker is one which requires resilience, empathy, patience, and ability in which to engage our young people in their day to day routines. You will build and develop trusting relationships with our young people that will in turn provide a secure base for them to thrive.
Working as the Residential Child Care Support Worker you will support our young people in all aspects of their lives, such as in their schooling, engaging in new and varied activities, achieving their own aspirations and wishes. As a Child Care Support Worker, you will also support your colleagues in household tasks such as cooking, cleaning and ensuring our young people’s electronic records are all up to date.
This role is incredibly rewarding and allows you to work alongside some amazing young people. How many people can say they get to go kayaking, mountain biking, watch a film at the cinema, take a trip to a theme park or go on holiday with our young people in their working day?
The role can be challenging at times, our young people have often experienced a great deal of loss and adversity in their lives. As a result of these adverse childhood experiences our young people are likely to have Social, Emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. However, with the training we provide and continued support within The Orchard team you will be equipped with the skills and confidence in which to manage challenges and make our young people feel safe, listened to and not judged.
Our young people would have had many adults come in and out of their lives, often adding to their trauma. Therefore, we are looking for committed and dedicated people that want to make a career out of this rewarding role and not give up at the first hurdle.
