JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Publishing Content Commissioning Coordinator who has publishing project management experience with a background in commissioning and/or acquiring new publishable content, liaising with authors and editors.

Working as the Publishing Content Commissioning Coordinator you will support the business in the development of content acquisition, in order to deliver on the company’s strategic business plans and effectively contribute to the strengthening of the company’s profile as an impactful knowledge broker. You will be part of a small specialist publishing company, which is an integral part of the wider organisation, and will help them drive content commissions and publishing impact.

In this exciting role as the Publishing Content Commissioning Coordinator you will oversee the acquisition process and budgeting of all of the company’s growing published content, from liaison with authors and editors to the point at which final digital files or printed publications are completed and published.

As a successful candidate you will have a real opportunity to further develop your expertise and profile in professional publishing in an international development arena.

 

DUTIES

Your duties as the Publishing Content Commissioning Coordinator include:

  • Representing the company on editorial matters externally and taking responsibility for contracting new work - commissioning and responding to new proposals received
  • Developing existing contacts with authors, editors and co-publishing organisational representatives
  • Managing the peer review system
  • Researching new areas for publishing, new proposals and new editions of existing works
  • Contracting and client managing authors, editors and publication sponsors

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Critical to the success of the role will be the ability to engage, communicate, and build relationships with authors, editors, partner publishers, academic institutions and international NGOs.

 

ABOUT YOU

You are a committed and creative individual with substantive experience working in a professional publishing environment, specifically in a commissioning and/or acquiring new publishable content role.

You will also have immaculate English language skills; confidence in building relationships and communicating with a wide range of people, whether that is in writing or verbally, with the ability to pay close attention to detail.

Ideally you will have publishing project management experience, preferably with specific technical or international development studies subject knowledge and experience of working with international development organisations.
