JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a SEMH Primary School Teacher who is supportive and encouraging with a real interest in supporting students with their studies.

Our school “The Spires” rated “GOOD” by Ofsted, located in the South of Wiltshire, works with children who have social, emotional and emerging mental health (SEMH) needs. The school is based in a listed building in a quiet area of Salisbury, providing a safe and nurturing environment for anxious, vulnerable pupils who are unable to sustain a mainstream placement.

Our school offers a balance of academic studies, physical and outdoor education, vocational studies and personal development programmes. Our children are taught in small groups or on a one to one basis, using bite size learning based on personal interests and community issues to help engage the children and help extend their concentration.

We are looking for a SEMH Primary Teacher to join our friendly team at our Education location in Salisbury. In this role you would be expected to ensure all children and young people within our care are secure and receiving the best possible educational provision and outcomes.

Working alongside the Headteacher you will demonstrate a clear understanding of the challenges of delivering consistent, quality learning opportunities to students with higher and complex needs. As the SEMH Primary School Teacher you will hold QTS as well as being able to evidence considerable experience in the following:

  • Working with children with Social, Emotional, Behavioural and additional needs
  • Researching, planning, preparing and delivering outstanding lessons
  • Developing and delivering flexible and purposeful, individualised curriculums
  • Line management of Learning Support staff
  • Robust baseline, assessing and tracking of both traditional and non-traditional curriculums and learning programmes
  • Working with internal colleagues, critical friends, parents and clinicians as well as the network of external colleagues in Local Authority SEN teams
  • High levels of self-reflection, motivation to improve own practice and a solution focussed, positive approach to operational challenges

As the SEMH Primary School Teacher you will have a sound knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage, excellent communication skills, a commitment to inclusive practice and can work within a multi-disciplinary team. You will also contribute to an integrated model of care and school development plan, whist supporting the pupils, recognising and responding to their individual needs

As the SEMH Primary School Teacher, you will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of differentiation and be flexible to work with and take responsibility for a small group of KS2 and lower KS3 learners. In return, we will offer to the right candidate the opportunity to join a developing and improving establishment that is in an exciting period of transition and growth. You will receive training in Pro-active Approaches techniques as well as commitment to and support of your own professional development aspirations.

If you are successful you will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS Disclosure check prior to their employment and then on a 3-yearly update. Five Rivers requires full and satisfactory employment references covering 3 years. We require all new employees to bring proof of their identity and proof of right to work in the UK

Five Rivers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Children and Young People, applicants must be willing to undergo appropriate child protection screening, including employment references and DBS check.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
