Job Description

Internal Marketing & Communications Manager who has excellent planning, organisational and time-management skills with experience writing internal communications materials is required by Guide Dogs.

 

SALARY: £34,688 - £36,729 per annum

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Internal Marketing & Communications Manager, known within the organisation as a ‘Volunteering Communications Manager’, who has excellent planning, organisational and time-management skills with experience writing internal communications materials.

Working as the Internal Marketing & Communications Manager you will lead the development and delivery of internal communications to the Charity’s volunteers, that meets the needs of organisational objectives and aligns with the Charity’s strategic plan and volunteering strategy, ensuring direction, priorities and performance is communicated clearly and effectively. 

As the Internal Marketing & Communications Manager, you will also provide guidance on regional and local communications to volunteers, supporting volunteer managers/key contacts and wider colleagues to ensure communications with volunteers is integral to project and programme planning and delivery.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Internal Marketing & Communications Manager:

  • Develop, deliver and monitor the effectiveness of a volunteer communications and engagement strategy
  • Develop and manage a range of channels to gather feedback from potential, current, lapsed and former volunteers
  • Develop and manage a range of ways for potential, current, lapsed and former volunteers to work with staff to co-create developments in volunteering, optimising opportunities for participation and engagement
  • Develop and manage an annual national, regional and local communications plan, producing content for key events and publications
  • Support and guide colleagues to develop their skills and confidence in national, regional and local volunteering communications and engagement
  • Devise, deliver and measure the effectiveness of a programme of communications and engagement for volunteer managers/key contacts
  • Interpret data to inform the corporate and volunteering strategy and demonstrate the return of investment of communication activities
  • Lead on raising awareness of volunteering, internally and externally. Encourage colleagues to utilise internal communication channels and maximise the PR opportunities that awareness days such as Volunteers Week can bring
  • Oversee all online content relevant to volunteering, working in partnership with digital and technology teams to ensure information is accurate and timely and relevant social media/digital platforms

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Have substantial experience and demonstrable success in planning, managing and delivering internal communications in support of major projects/initiatives in a large organisation
  • Sound knowledge of volunteering motivation and trends
  • Able to create internal communications strategies and plans
  • Recognises sensitive areas and the need for appropriate discretion to maintain reputation, volunteer and employee engagement
  • Able to inspire and engage at all levels
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle unanticipated workloads
  • Computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience of writing internal communications materials, including briefings for senior staff
  • Experienced in leading and facilitating meetings and achieving positive outcomes
  • Copywriting experience of writing content for digital and print media on national scale
  • Comfortable with dogs in the workplace / office
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
