School Health Care Assistant who is Level 3 qualified with excellent organisation and time management skills and the ability to accurately follow instructions and adhere to school policies and procedures is required for an outstanding Independent School based in Liverpool, Merseyside, North West England.

 

SALARY: £11.00 per hour + Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Liverpool, Merseyside, North West England

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week during term time plus an additional 5 weeks to be worked out of term

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School Health Care Assistant who is Level 3 qualified with excellent organisation and time management skills and the ability to accurately follow instructions and adhere to school policies and procedures.

Working as the School Health Care Assistant you will support the School Nurse in the efficient running of the School’s health service.

As the School Health Care Assistant you will assist with the provision of high-quality care and first aid to pupils and will undertake administrative duties such as maintaining pupils’ medical records.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the School Health Care Assistant will include:

  • Working under the direct supervision of the School Nurse
  • Promoting positive mental/physical/nutritional health with pupils
  • Undertaking administrative duties that require a high degree of accuracy such as maintaining pupil records and booking appointments
  • Restocking and maintaining the medical rooms
  • Ordering supplies
  • Assisting with immunisation programmes for pupils
  • Undertaking AED checks, asthma kit checks, AAI checks and emergency medication checks
  • Dealing with routine medical concerns from pupils and parents
  • Providing first aid and associated advice to pupils
  • Administering medicines according to agreed protocols and school policies
  • Adhering to individual care plans for pupils with specific health care needs
  • Assisting the School Nurse in responding to medical emergencies on the school site
  • Liaising with pastoral staff and the Health and Safety team across the School as required
  • Carrying out all duties in line with school medical and health policies, including infection control
  • Assisting with the coordination and monitoring of first aid training within the schools
  • Assisting with health-related initiatives within the school such as the promotion of healthy living
  • Maintaining confidential student medical records in line with GDPR
  • Assisting with open days and other events where applicable

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or similar
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to relate to children and young people aged 4 – 18
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and listening skills
  • Ability to get along with other people and work independently, using use own initiative
  • Able to accurately follow instructions and adhere to school policies and procedures
  • Competence with IT systems in order to input, update and maintain the school database of pupil medical details as well as the use of Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate and relate to children and young adults
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and empathy at all times
  • Friendly and professional disposition
  • Highly discreet with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Highly diligent and reliable
  • Always committed to the safeguarding and the welfare of pupils
