Finance & Planning Manager / Qualified Accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) with the ability to confidently deal with complex financial and technical disclosure standards, who is able to build and establish a credible business partnership with all areas of the organisation, is required by Guide Dogs based in Reading, Berkshire.

 

SALARY: £34,688 – £36,729 per annum + Benefits

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Finance & Planning Manager / Qualified Accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) with the ability to confidently deal with complex financial and technical disclosure standards, who is able to build and establish a credible business partnership with all areas of the organisation.

The Finance & Planning Manager / Qualified Accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by providing support to the business to deliver the objectives of the Five Year Plan, with a focus on delivery of service targets, productivity, efficiency and innovation.  This role needs to understand the drivers of performance, be knowledgeable on historic performance versus targets, and work with management to improve performance cost effectively into the future.

As a Finance & Planning Manager / Qualified Accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) you will have the exposure to a planning environment, a demonstrated experience and understanding of the impact of change and evidenced experience of influencing the business to make commercially sound decisions.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Finance & Planning Manager / Qualified Accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) will include:

  • Develop robust plans with the business that focus on delivery of service targets, productivity, efficiency and innovation and provide the inputs into the 5 Year Plan, budgeting and forecasting cycle
  • Deliver planning and scenario modelling that enable management to understand the current relationship between inputs and outputs
  • Provide insightful analysis that demonstrates the current relationship between performance and financials and work with management to improve business performance
  • Manage and coach Management Accountant to improve relevance of data provided to the business
  • Develop credible, financially articulate business cases with clearly defined benefits and challenge the business to demonstrate that benefits are achieved
  • Work with other senior finance colleagues to continually review, simplify and improve the organisation’s finance regime and management processes
  • Deliver coaching and financial education to non-financial colleagues

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified finance professional
  • Able to confidently deal with complex financial and technical disclosure standards
  • Exposure to a planning environment
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the impact of change
  • Evidenced experience of influencing the business to make commercially sound decisions
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial and organisational/business context
  • Sound knowledge of accounting practices and understanding of tools and techniques to influence and partner across all levels of the organisation
  • Experience of computer-based accounting systems
  • Understanding of the general ledger and its feeder systems and coding structures
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and legislation relating to budgetary control and financial management
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues in a simple way
  • Ability to think strategically and understand the broader organisational issues
  • Strong problem solver, using a variety of analytical and influencing techniques
  • Strong modelling and analysis skills, including the use of Excel

Desirable

  • Chartered Member of professional body
  • Experience with the third or charity sector
  • Ability to work quickly to a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to maintain focus and drive to resolve issues
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
