SALARY: £27,009 - £38,539 (depending on experience) + Benefits

JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School Site Facilities & Building Maintenance Manager who is skilled in a variety of areas including general building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry and minor electrical works, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
Working as the School Site Facilities & Building Maintenance Manager you will work under the day to day direction of the Trust Estates Manager with flexibility and a willingness to provide quick and efficient service.
As the School Site Facilities & Building Maintenance Manager you will ensure the day to day maintenance is carried out, taking a hands-on and proactive approach. You will monitor the condition of all the buildings across the Trust sites, reporting any defects and taking appropriate action to put in good order.
Full health and safety training will be provided.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Help ensure all relevant building certification and testing is kept up to date for inspection purposes
- Assist with the movement and reinstatement of furniture and fixtures
- Work out quantity of materials needed for specific refurbishment or build projects
- Manage a maintenance budget, including seeking best value for money
- Carry out minor repairs, maintenance and redecoration on the School site, including painting, plumbing, carpentry and plaster repairs
- Direct contractors to the site of repair and maintenance work
- Check and sign the Asbestos register prior to undertaking any penetrative work on buildings
- Provide cover for other members of staff during holidays, sickness or other absences and in emergencies
- Keep buildings, sheds, workshops and boiler rooms in a clean and tidy condition
- Maintain all hand tools, hand power tools and associated equipment used by the maintenance team
- Take responsibility for lighting and heating equipment, changing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, fire fighting equipment and alarms
- Act as the focal point for the schools PAT trained staff members. Carry out portable appliance testing as required and maintain the whole site register of testing
- Set, test and operate the fire and intruder alarms on a regular basis
- Act as a ‘key holder’ as directed by the Trust Estates Manager
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
As the School Site Facilities & Building Maintenance Manager you will have the following skill and experience:
- Be skilled in a variety of areas including general building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry and minor electrical works and preferably qualified in one area (electrical, mechanical, gas or plumbing)
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, mandatory and internal requirements, undertaking checks, testing, record keeping etc
- Be able to perform planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance & minor works on a supervised and unsupervised basis
- Be able to work efficiently in a busy environment and use their own initiative to solve work related problems effectively prioritising tasks
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills
- React to and manage emergency situations in relation to the maintenance of grounds and facilities i.e. boiler breakdowns, power outage etc
- Be a team player with a ‘can do’ approach and dynamic outlook
- A full, clean driving licence and your own transport is essential for this role
