SALARY: £20,493 - £23,541 FTE (£17,781 - £21,795 Actual Salary) Grade D/E

LOCATION: Plymouth, Devon, South West England

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Monday to Thursday- 7.00am-3.30pm, 37.5 / 40 Hours per week term time (37/40 additional hours outside of term time)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Exams Officer / School Examinations Coordinator with excellent organisational, interpersonal and time-management skills and who is a great team player.

Working as an Exams Officer / School Examinations Coordinator you will work alongside the Systems & Data Manager to ensure practical, controlled assessment and oral examinations are carried out effectively and efficiently as well as being responsible for coordinating the day to day cover arrangements each morning.

As an Exams Officer / School Examinations Coordinator you will be motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to support the operation of the school’s examination process.

 

DUTIES

Your duties as an Exams Officer / School Examinations Coordinator will include:

  • To liaise with students by providing, for example exam entry statements and timetables
  • Ensure that the College complies with all the necessary regulations to ensure that students receive appropriate accreditation and certification for their achievement
  • To facilitate the work of the examination boards enabling them to carry out their obligation to the College and provide the necessary certification
  • To ensure practical, controlled assessment and oral examinations are carried out by teachers in that subject area and that appropriate preparation of students has taken place according to examination rules
  • To have an oversight of national tests (including CATs tests and external examinations)
  • To organise all PPE (mock) exams
  • To have a detailed working knowledge of the examination procedures making suitable arrangements for rooming, seating and invigilation and invigilators know which member of staff to contact should a candidate raise a concern about the paper for both internal and external examinations
  • To liaise with Interserve to ensure that furniture requirements, examination materials and notices are in place on time
  • To ensure that invigilators fulfil their obligations in accordance with the examination board regulations
  • To disseminate specifications and official memoranda to colleagues
  • To develop systems within the College to manage the essential collection of examination data, to ensure that all board deadlines for administration purposes are met
  • To monitor the cost of examination expenditure; to alert others to current entry practices and direct attention to the financial costs involved, making recommendations as appropriate
  • To be responsible for collecting and storing (using SIMS and SISRA) all examination results (or component results) including CAs
  • To operate the appeal system effectively, liaising with teachers, parents and students
  • To maintain secure storage of exam materials, in accordance with exam regulations
  • Quality nominee for Vocational Qualifications
  • To provide support to the Data Manager in the use of Assessment Manager 7 in SIMS to include the production of student reports and assessment data for staff as required
  • To manage aspects of SIMS, ensuring efficient and consistent linkage between modules and with other software
  • To support in the organisation of CPD for all staff in relation to exams
  • Maintain the cover teacher handbook, ensuring it meets the current SJH expectations
