Assistant Data Protection Manager with proven experience of advising on Data Protection and knowledge and understanding of Data Protection regulations is required to join our team at Guide Dogs.

 

SALARY: £28,988 - £35,199 per annum

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Assistant Data Protection Manager with proven experience of advising on Data Protection and knowledge and understanding of Data Protection regulations.

Working as the Assistant Data Protection Manager you will ensure that the charity appropriately manages data protection risks and promotes awareness and compliance of data protection throughout the organisation.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Assistant Data Protection Manager will include:

  • Helping embed the wider data protection framework within the organisation
  • Assisting with internal data privacy audits and actively participate in breach management processes
  • Ensuring that relevant Data Protection (DPA) processes and procedures documentation remain compliant and relevant
  • Assisting and advising information owners to enable them to comply with all relevant data protection laws, regulations and policies   
  • Reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments for new projects/processes
  • Working with the Learning and Organisation Development Department to support the development and delivery of effective data protection training, including appropriate induction training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers
  • Supporting information owners to accurately complete Subject Access Requests and advising on requests ‘To be Forgotten’
  • Supporting, and when necessary deputise for, the Data Protection Manager with key incidents, including data breaches

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As the Assistant Data Protection Manager you will have:

Essential

  • Educated to GCE Advanced level and GCSE passes in Maths and English or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience of advising on Data Protection in a similar role 
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Data Protection regulations
  • Good Microsoft Office 365 Suite skills (including SharePoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work under strict time scales
  • Proactive approach to work with an ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks
  • Ability to engage effectively with colleagues to work as part of a team

Desirable

  • Formal data protection qualification
  • Demonstrable experience of responding to Subject Access Requests
  • Experience completing Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Risk and compliance experience
  • Experience of information management
  • Wider compliance knowledge
  • Able to appreciate the wider commercial scenario when giving advice and knowing how to compromise when appropriate
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade with the objective of problem solving
