Community Development Officer / Volunteer Management & Training Coordinator with experience of volunteer management, supervision and development, and a track record in influencing, building and sustaining relationships to achieve results, is required to join our team at Guide Dogs.

 

SALARY: £28,988 - £35,199 per annum + Excellent Benefits

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Community Development Officer / Volunteer Management & Training Coordinator with experience of volunteer management, supervision and development, and a track record in influencing, building and sustaining relationships to achieve results.

Working as the Community Development Officer / Volunteer Management & Training Coordinator you will expand the reach and flexibility through the community partner model and identify opportunities to work in new ways.

As the Community Development Officer / Volunteer Management & Training Coordinator you will deliver training to the friends and family of people with sight loss and to external partners, providing user friendly and appropriate services to communities.

 

DUTIES

As the Community Development Officer / Volunteer Management & Training Coordinator your duties will include:

  • Help to identify opportunities to recruit community partners to deliver the service and build networks of supportive and collaborative relationships
  • Support and help shape the Charities partnership model, working with them to agree the support and training needs of community partners
  • Maintain regular support and communications with community partners
  • Responsible for the supervision of volunteers
  • Manage waiting lists and allocation of training spaces for Friends & Family applicants
  • Deliver Friends & Family training, primarily virtually and working across regions to contribute to national training delivery
  • Deliver appropriate training to partners, working with partners and fundraising colleagues to identify needs within the standardised training packages
  • Provide reports on a monthly/quarterly basis informing of progress and address any areas of dissatisfaction
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with local authorities, health authorities, voluntary organisations and other agencies, in order to identify collaborative opportunities to improve services
  • Identify improvement areas in the service, using observations, feedback and data
  • Show flexibility in supporting peers in Volunteer or Partnership role during absences or periods of high workload

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Proven experience of volunteer management, supervision, and development
  • Experience of delivering training to groups and individuals in different formats
  • Experience of delivering successful project outcomes with an understanding of the importance of monitoring and evaluation
  • Track record in influencing, building and sustaining relationships to achieve results
  • Relevant and recent knowledge of safeguarding practices including safer recruitment

 

Desirable

  • Demonstrates an understanding of visual impairment issues and service requirements
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of additional needs
  • Experience of working within the voluntary sector
  • Experience of grants/contract management
  • An understanding of the Visually Impaired sector
