Cleaner / School Cleaning Operative who has previous commercial cleaning experience with good English communication skills is required for a busy Facilities Department working in the Sports Centre within a School  based in Guildford, Surrey.

 

SALARY: £10.00 per Hour

 

LOCATION: Guildford, Surrey       

 

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent (evenings)

 

WORKING HOURS: 10 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday, 18:00 – 20:00 during term time (36 weeks per year), plus 5 weeks during the holidays (see below), totalling 41 weeks per year:

  • One week during the Christmas and Easter holidays
  • Two weeks during the summer holidays
  • One day during the February and May half terms
  • Two days during the October half term
  • One other day at a mutually agreed time

 

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must be able to operate floor scrubbers, carpet cleaning machines and other cleaning equipment which can be quite physically demanding.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cleaner / School Cleaning Operative who has previous commercial cleaning experience with good English communication skills.

The Cleaning Team at the School is in-house and very much part of their community.

Working as the Cleaner / School Cleaning Operative within the Facilities Department you will maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the Sport Centre and, on occasion, other areas of the school.

As the Cleaner / School Cleaning Operative, you will need to work through scheduled routines and be flexible in responding to unplanned requirements.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Cleaner / School Cleaning Operative:

  • Vacuum carpeted areas
  • Clean changing rooms
  • Dust / wipe skirting boards and windowsills
  • Wipe & polish desks and chairs
  • Toilets and sinks to be thoroughly cleaned, hand towel dispensers, soap dispensers filled (if possible) and toilet rolls stocked up in each toilet
  • Mop hard floors including the sports hall and use the scrubber drier where necessary
  • Empty bins and wash out, replace bin liner
  • Doors need wiping down, vision panels cleaned, door handles and light switches wiped
  • Cleaning cupboards to be kept tidy
  • Wipe/wash walls to head height
  • Take rubbish out of building to outdoor bins
  • Regularly empty vacuum cleaner
  • Operate floor scrubbers and carpet cleaning machines
  • Report to Sports Centre Manager or Cleaning Supervisor any defects or cleaning issues
  • Leave a handover for the daytime cleaner
  • Any other cleaning or caretaking duties as required

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As a successful candidate you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous cleaning experience
  • Good communication skills, including good verbal English
  • Ability to work as a part of a team
  • Ability to work using own initiative, without supervision
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to operate floor scrubbers, carpet cleaning machines and other cleaning equipment
  • Take pride in own work and maintains a high standard of cleaning
  • Must be dependable, reliable and punctual
  • Good professional appearance
  • Previous experience working within a school or sports centre environment would be highly desirable
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
