Job Description

Accounts Receivable Clerk / Sales Ledger / Credit Control Finance Assistant known within the organisation as Accounts Receivable Clerk with strong problem-solving capabilities, accurate keyboard skills and previous industry experience is required by the Guide Dogs.

 

SALARY: £21,568 - £22,828 per annum

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Clerk / Sales Ledger / Credit Control Finance Assistant known within the organisation as Accounts Receivable Clerk with strong problem-solving capabilities, accurate keyboard skills and previous industry experience.

Working as the Accounts Receivable Clerk / Sales Ledger / Credit Control Finance Assistant you will be part of this customer focused team, tasked with ensuring all income processing, banking and credit control functions are carried out in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.

As the Accounts Receivable Clerk / Sales Ledger / Credit Control Finance Assistant you will be responsible for the data integrity of income transactions processed and will work closely with the Income Processing team to identify any anomalies relating to the accurate recording of income.

The team are also responsible for the accurate and timely completion of bank reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of the Cash Book and Sales Ledger.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Accounts Receivable Clerk / Sales Ledger / Credit Control Finance Assistant will include:

  • Responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of items in all bank accounts in accordance with financial procedures
  • Processing all sales invoices relating to all areas of the business and carry out the credit control function for all outstanding invoices
  • Working closely with the Income Processing team, ensuring that all income processed reconciles to the cash book, and be responsible for investigating and resolving any differences
  • Review, validation, compliance and processing of all income refund requests
  • Timely reconciliation of all bank accounts as required
  • Work with the Financial Systems and Reporting team to identify and develop changes to increase efficiency and control
  • Preparation of Gift Aid Claims for HMRC
  • Ensuring that new income codes are set up in a timely manner
  • Provide support in the year end preparation of the statutory accounts

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Recent experience preferably in an accounts department, including bank reconciliations
  • Previous experience of using computerised accounts packages, preferably in a high volume processing environment, would be advantageous
  • A thorough understanding of the principal functions of an accounts receivable department and an awareness of how the work impacts upon other departments
  • An NVQ or equivalent in accounting/business studies or relevant business experience
  • Excellent keyboard skills are essential, as is the ability to work accurately to strict timetables
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel essential
  • Strong problem-solving capability
  • Strong team player
  • Tenacity and resilience
  • Knowledge of the principles of Gift Aid
  • An awareness of customer requirements in relation to accounts receivable, Gift Aid and Banking
  • Comfortable with dogs in the workplace / office
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
