Software Support Engineer
Details
Software Support Engineer required for application backend support, monitoring, software development and maintenance with our London based Client.
Software Support Engineer applicants must have previous experience in a similar backend software support based role, and MUST have supported software systems in the past.
Ideally you will have experience monitoring applications ensuring they are running and adding any additional alert/monitoring/checks to safeguard the live system.
The Software Support Engineer will primarily have experience of Microsoft Infrastructure, SQL Server, Visual Studio Development and strong scripting skills, SQL, Shell Scripts etc. However, as our Client’s development programme progresses, they may take on new technologies so a willingness to learn Java applications, VM’s, and Linux OS is necessary.
As a Software Support Engineer you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the application systems including answering questions and dealing with problems. Therefore applicants must have excellent customer-facing skills and previous experience of troubleshooting problems. This is NOT a help desk role, you will be very much hands-on coding, scripting, querying and developing small fixes or new functions to improve the operational effectiveness of the systems.
Working as the Software Support Engineer you will join a small and self-organised team, and you must show initiative in making improvements across our whole product stack; from supporting client queries, applying automation to problem solving, monitoring and support, to helping keep our UI cutting edge.
Experience with any of the following technologies and concepts are likely to be advantageous, but none should be considered a specific requirement.
- SQL Server – stored procedures / scalability / backup / replication / performance tuning
- Monitoring platforms – Nagios or similar
- Web Server configuration – IIS
- Version Control – SVN or similar
- Automated Build and Deployment – Team City or similar
- Testing – xUnit or similar, familiarity with scripted UI testing
- Programming Tools & Languages – C#, SQL Scripting, asp.net (ideally MVC), Visual Studio
Any exposure to Linux OS, Java VM’s, Apache Solr (configuration and scaled deployment) and the Java language would be advantageous, but not essential, providing there is a willingness to learn.
As part of the system and infrastructure support team you are also likely to be called upon to provide out-of-hours support.
Successful applicants for the Software Support Engineer vacancy can expect to receive a very competitive remuneration package, stock options, a world class working environment, the best tools money can buy and the opportunity to impact the future success of our Client.
To be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details. CV’s of Job Applicants meeting this requirement will be submitted to our Client for consideration. By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.
